File 3: Chatter Chatter Chatter

Iris' Blog

This just in: My best friend is dating someone for the first time. So who's the lucky guy? Er...someone I never expected for her to go out with. Why? Cuz...he's someone she has known since kindergarten and there has never once been any 'romantic' feelings between them. It's pretty weird seeing her like this. She had never liked boys or had a crush before. She had been in this stage since birth and in just one weekend all that has changed. There's the end of that. And guess what I'm thinking? I'm thinking this can't end well. But hey, I'm happy for her. For now. O_O Stay tuned.

"Bell, Jenny! Hey! Wait up!" yelled Iris as she tried to catch up with them in the school halls. "Why do you guys always leave me behind?" she said after she was beside them. "Pff, you're not the farthest one behind" Jenny replied, and they all turned around to see that Andrew and Christine were slowly walking a couple of paces behind them, having a conversation. "Hey, lovebirds! Hurry up!" Jenny called to them as Bell and Iris burst into laughs.

The two lovebirds seemed to be concentrated really hard in their conversation because they didn't have a snide reply to that comment. "Aw our little Christine has finally grown up" Bell said. "Yep she has..." Iris started and turned to Bell, and put a hand on her shoulder. "Please don't do the same so soon" she finished, and went into her English class.

Zach, Jack, and Chris were already at their table, and Jack seemed to be making fun of Zach's shirt, which was bright red and white with a checkerboard pattern. The shirt looked a lot like...a picnic table. "Um..." Iris said to Zach as she sat down. "No offense or anything...but your shirt makes you look like a picnic table." Zach said "I know" and grumbled. Iris turned to Chris. "Do you have any comment on this?" "Well, yeah. He DOES look like a picnic table," he said. "That's what I've been trying to tell you!" Jack said.

"Fine then. From now on, YOU," Iris pointed to Zach "are Picnic Boy." "You," she pointed to Jack, "are Baby Bob." "And YOU," she pointed to Chris. "I don't know much about you so whatever." "Let's just call him Stupid Bob" Zach said. Chris gave him an annoyed face as Iris said: "Well. That...was nice." She patted Chris on the shoulder. "Don't worry, you're not Stupid Bob. Or...at least for now." "...Great" he replied.

"Christine, when did you start going out with Andrew?"
"Andrew, when did you start going out with Christine?"
"How long have you two been going out?"
"How long have you two known each other?"
"How long have you....."

"SHUT UP!!!" Christine screamed at the crowd of people around her who were trying to interrogate her about her new relationship with Andrew at lunch. It had only been a weekend since the two started and today was the first day that they were back at school as a couple. News of it had spread through the school and all the 7th graders were asking them about it. Even random 6th graders neither Christine or Andrew knew or even seen before came up to them to ask.

Really, why everyone cared so much about 2 people going out was beyond her. There was always a fuss when 2 people start to go out, but this probably went down as the biggest fuss in Evergreen Middle School over a relationship.

"Ugh..this is going to be a long week," Christine thought.

Picnic Boy.
Baby Bob.
Stupid Bob?

Chris had been somewhat, er, 'pissed' at Zach at that comment. That, and a couple of other things about Zach that had annoyed Chris. Still, the two were close friends that sometimes did or did not get along. For now, they were getting along, just playfully messing with each other.

"What are you doing?" Iris asked Chris as she saw him doodling on the back of his paper. Chris smiled and showed the paper to her. Iris looked at it and laughed, because she saw that he had drawn a person getting eaten by a shark. "That better not be me" she grinned. Chris silently took back the paper, scribbled something on it, and handed it back to her, with an amused expression on his face. Iris saw that he had wrote "Zach" on the paper with an arrow pointing to the person getting eaten by the shark. Wow. The two started laughing, just as Ms. Wheels announced it was time for their quiz and told everyone to move their desks away so that they were away from anyone who could see each other's papers. Iris, Chris, Zach, and Jack scooted away their desks, and Iris started to laugh again. Chris looked up from his desk to see her still laughing over the drawing, and he smiled.

Tick tock, tick tock, time went by and people started to finish their quizzes. Zach was asked to collect all the papers and hand them to the teacher. As he collected the quizzes at their table, he accidently took Chris' paper, the one with him getting eaten by a shark. Iris and Chris quickly saw what he had just did, and Chris quickly snatched back the paper from him. "No! Those are my notes!" he yelled, trying his best not to laugh. Zach walked away, giving him a weird look. That was when all the laughs came out. "Do you think he saw the picture?" Iris asked. "I hope not," Chris answered.

They all walked down to the library with their other friends, then Iris met up with Chris again when they reached the location. "So..did he see the picture?" she asked again. "I don't know!" he replied. Zach started to walk up to them, with a grin on his face, holding a pencil. He started to try to aim the pencil at one of them. He threw it as they moved back, and it bounced off their feet. "I think you got your answer," Chris said to Iris. Iris pushed Chris infront of her as Zach tried to throw the pencil at them again. The three were now cracking up and the adults there were starting to scold them to be quiet.

Iris walked away and started to look for books to check out, when Chris walked up to her again and gave her the pencil Zach had been trying to throw at them. "What am I supposed to do with this?" Iris asked. Chris shrugged, and walked away quickly before Zach saw where and who Chris had disposed his pencil. When the three were out of sight, Iris smiled and laughed to herself. Boys.

It had been a long day for Christine, with everyone asking her about Andrew, getting all in her face. Now most of those busy bodies had gone home, while Christine and Andrew decided to stay after school together. Iris stayed with them too, feeling more like the 3rd wheel. Beforehand, she had tried to convince someone else to stay after school with her. Chris had even offered to stay after school, but in the end he couldn't. Bell and Jenny weren't staying after either. This has got to be entertaining.

The three were walking to their lockers together, with Christine and Andrew *wince* *wince* holding hands. They were trying to walk to their after school class as slow as possible apparently, so they could squeeze in some privacy for the first time that day.

The two kept chattering amongst themselves after taking seats in the classroom, including Iris every once in a while. Eventually, Iris wasn't the third wheel. They talked about the 5th grade when the three had trouble getting along and would always fight. Andrew also asked Iris if she dared him to touch Christine. Whether she answered that disturbing question or not wouldn't matter as he would pretend to touch her. When Christine would look way down or bend over to try to do homework, Andrew would look over her and try to make Iris see him trying to touch her. The result? Andrew getting a punch or two. Hehe.

Iris pretended to whine about being left out, and they talked about what was currently going on (besides the new relationship.) These included amusing conversations their friends had inbetween classes, unusual incidents in classes, and just current events. Iris also talked about the funny event that happened during English with Chris and Zach. Funny, just one story and the two had suspected that she liked Chris. As far as she was concerned, she and Chris were just friends, along with Zach. Right? For now, she was just sticking with that. Andrew claimed that Iris had blushed when he asked though. Figures.

NEW TEXT MESSAGE!

CHRISTINE: i broke up with andrew.

Iris read the new text message. She and Christine never really text messaged that much, they weren't like the girls out there who texted 24/7. Still, it was a fun way to keep in contact without having to call. Lately, text message seemed to take on a new way of communication for them though. And for Iris, it seemed like a way to learn things in a way where you don't have to learn it face to face.

Iris knew that this was going to be a quick relationship. But still, it had been only, what, two days? Then again, she wouldn't want people in her face about a relationship she was having. Not that she would ever be in that situation.

Whatever was going to happen next, nobody knew.

But one thing's for sure.

This isn't the end.
